Where is the changover point on a T/A dash?

Hi gang...

I want to put in a later version of the 4th gen T/A dash in my 94 Z28. At what point on the dash does the similarities end? Would I have to buy the whole thing right up to the windshield, or is the f-body dash the same up to the gauge console section?
I really like the rounder more compact T/A firebird dash panel on the ones I've seen, but I have no clue if they changed like the camaros did in later years.
I'd just like to switch over the driver's side and center section, if possible.

Who has any experience with this?

There's nothing interchangeable from T/A to Camaro for the dash as far as I know, especially for the 93-96 Camaros. You'll probably end up needing a center console, too.

From what I can tell through pictures, the dash didn't change from 93-02 in the Firebird. The center console changed, though, and probably in 97. That's when the Camaro interior changed, and the center console looks the same in the 97+ Firebird and T/A as it does in the 97+ Camaro. As far as I can see, there are more similarities with 97+ cars (both Chevy and Pontiac) than there are with 93-96 Camaros and Pontiac F-bodies.

Since you've got a 94 Camaro, you might as well just bank on taking the entire dash, gauge cluster, and center console from a T/A if you're going to do the swap. Might as well do the door panels while you're at it, because those T/A door panels are sexy. Hopefully you've got power windows, because you'll need those for T/A door panels if you go that far.

I do have power windows, as a matter of fact.
I've always liked the interiors of the T/A's but I've never liked the exteriors. I hope to find a cracked up T/A with a black interior.

I am guessing that to do this, the smartest thing to do is unbolt the whole dash, and see what wiring nightmares I run into with a Firebird dash. Center console is not really imortant, but I'll go with whatever looks and fits the best.

Any clues on how to make the wiring as painless as it can be in this situation? I have a feeling that this will be quite an undertaking.

I'm really not sure as far as the wiring is concerned. I haven't been inside the dash of a T/A to see what the connectors and such are like. I would imagine they'd try to make them similar to keep costs down between the two bodies, but I really can't say for sure.

After scouring Ebay, it seems that the large piece that runs up to the windshield is common, and will work with either, as long as the years match- 02 T/A and 02 Z28, and so on. The wiring should also be the same, and I may not need to switch out the face plate or the vent controls either.

*This is all assumption, and should be taken with a grain of salt, as I haven't actually DONE this yet..*

actually, the T/A dash changed slightly between 96 and 97. A 97 dash pad will not work on a 93-96 without cutting the corner just below the large defrost vent slightly. I have seen a 97+ dashpad on a 93-96 car but it didn't look quite right. and using a 93-96 on a later one would cause a gap IIRC. So there is defiantely a slight difference in shape from a 93-96 T/A dash to a 97-02.
