Where to buy replacement body parts?

Where, beside the junkyard, would be the best place to buy replacement body parts for our cars? I'm looking for something that will costs me less than the 1900 the body shop quoted me for everything. If I can buy the parts myself I'm sure I'll save a whole lot. I'm trying to repair damage from a deer jumping out in front of my the other night and ruining my hood, front clip, and passenger fender. It died when it flew over my car though .

Maybe some good websites I possibly haven't heard about. Is it worth paying something like 3 times more to get capa certified parts?

I'll probably get a better hood than stock, something like an SS hood. So any suggestions would be great.

Re: Where to buy replacement body parts?

http://www.gm-car-parts.com/ Find all the parts you need, plus shipping and compare to your original quote. If shipping is too much find a GM parts dealer closer to you through google. As far as capa is concerned, if it is an aftermarket part it still doesn't mean it is of the best quality. Stick with GM parts. Some body shops wont waranty their work without capa certified parts. SS aftermarket hoods are a dime a doz. and I have come to find out there is usually quite a bit of prep work that comes with these hoods, which then also results in dishing out more money. All depends on how perfect you want your hood and of what quality will determine which manufacturer you choose. The best SS hood in my opinion would come from http://slponline.com/ which is where GM gets theirs from but without the mark up. Or check out the other guys on here. You may find stock off of someones SS. I replaced my stock Z with an SS and it is awesome!! Gives the Z the look it deserves. Hope this helps...

Actually Autozone carries Keystone which is the replacement parts you will get from gm. you dont have to pay shipping just pick it up at the store you order it from. and i have found that their prices are cheaper. I bought a hood and fender for my 93 z28 when i banged it up the fit was just as good as factory. Just another option for ya that might save you some money.

Re: Where to buy replacement body parts?

I work in a salvage yard, and we just sold a front bumper, hood, left fender and taillight for $550.00 including freight. We are in south Carolina, and the customer was in Virginia. I dont know if you just dont want to get parts from a salvage yard, but its probably your best bet as far as price goes. You could even (possibly) get the same color you have now. Of course fading is always different depending on where you live, but it sure is easier and cheaper if its the same color.

I agree a salvage yard will be much cheaper. I think a brand new fender is 189 dollars from autozone. And a stock hood runs in the neighborhood of 300 bucks. So definately cheaper to do a salvage yard. Now you have a couple options

I would like to get the parts from a salvage yard but the chances of finding another Camaro around here, especially in red is just about impossible. I don't think I've ever found a Camaro around here in a salvage yard without the front end being destroyed.

Don't buy aftermarket parts if you care about how your car looks./ I did the exact same thing. The body shop wanted $1500 to fix it and I figured buying parts off of ebay would be cheaper. It was but now everyday I look at my car I wish I would have just paid the $1500. The fender and the bumper don't line up like they should. It pisses me off!
