whats this little "JM" symbol thing on stock rims?

i noticed it on both my old salad shooter rims and my new firebird rims, a little JM or something symbol on the surface. i figured it was who made the rims for GM.

however, i noticed on a friend's honda prelude his stock rims have the same exact symbol. what does it stand for?

me and my boss have been trying to figure that out for a while. I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. The same symbol is on my jeep wheels...my camaro wheels, my wife's saturn, and my bosses Subaru Imprezza. Whoever's symbol it is...they make a killin!

Ok...everyone here at work did an intensive search here a few minutes ago....and in 10 minutes, I found the OEM supplier for our cars...but I don't know why their symbol is the way it is IF in fact these guys really are the suppliers. Superior Industries, I think. here's the link:

http://www.superiorindustries.com/pr...s/carindex.htm

No where on their entire site do I see a logo or anything...so I'm not sure if this is it or not...I do know that they make the wheels for our cars though...at least they do right now.

yeah...neither was Subaru or Saturn. It's a weird little symbol too....reminds me of that movie with Sandra Bullock..."The Net"...the praetorian's symbol. It's a conspiracy!!!

I know...it's almost creepy. And I'm tellin ya...I started wondering what it was over 2 yrs ago...and NO ONE has ever been able to give me an answer. And like I said...I found that site of who makes our wheels...but there's no symbol there either!

i'll ask around my work when i get back from my 3 week vacation.
(I work at Subaru-Isuzu Automotive) we build the Subaru Legacy, Outback, Baja and GT......Isuzu Rodeo, Rodeo Sport and Axiom. That symbol is on almost all the wheels that go thru the factory, but i have never had a clue what it meant.
(yes, i do build rice! lol! but i'm all out GM at heart)
I'll ask some of the guys that work up in "design", and see what they can figure out.

It is the mark of the supplier, who is more than likely Japanese and supplies wheels for many automakers.

I don't think there is a such thing as a "GM made" wheel. The same goes for other companies as well.

THIS IS WHAT JM MEANS...

Ok... After a couple of phone calls here at GM this is what the JM means. This is interesting I think.

The JM means that the wheel has passed the Japanese wheel impact test and meets their specifications for export to Japan.
