What LED light for brake lights?
Re: What LED light for brake lights?
I am interested in the parts list too, please! I've wanted to experiment with Luxeon Stars for a while now.
Thanks!

Re: What LED light for brake lights?
The latest Mean-Time-Before-Failure of these LEDs I've seen published is in excess of 3 million hours and rising, basically you'll never need to replace them in the life of the car.
Brightness should be pretty equal to a non-clear tail light if not brighter; vs the red LED bulbs or red tinted bulbs which are considerably dimmer.
And no, no one has pictures; I never got mine finished, and I JUST got the parts list sent to this guy. Mostly it's a mod for Firebirds with Clear Tail lights, where the STT lights SUCK due to the clear lens and reflector design.
The new 3W reds, that I have prototypes of, are a LOT brighter than your typical brake/turn lights, but they are not yet available to the public, and I've got the 1st 250 of the production units already on order at work for a job I'm working on.
These are no where near a plug-n-play type thing either, this is a fully DIY custom job with these LEDs.

do you know when they will be available to the public?

Re: What LED light for brake lights?
I'm getting my allocation of the initial run sometime late january; full production should be up late Q1/early Q2 of this year; basically I would expect april timeframe, maybe sooner.
But the 3W's are harder to work with, 3X the heat to try and disipate in the same area on the star/emitter. This is what makes the 5W LEDs they have out so difficult to design with, the required heatsink to run a 5W at full power at room temp indefinetly is 4" cubed, all heat-sink fins.
