Have you thought about the SLP Ultra Z hood? I personally think it looks real good, plus, it gives you the ability to upgrade to the LS1 style air intake, which allows you to use the MTI clear Air Lid, which, in my opinion, looks WAYYYYYYY cool!

 

I say go cowl, but IMO, make sure it's less than 4 inches.

 

I think the harwood cowl would look awesome!

They are played out because they are about the only good looking choices out there. But everyone has their own opinion.
