It looks like the heat is dissipated more efficiently due to more surface area created by the vanes. I am not sure how much more heat would be dissipated bacause the filter is small and not much of a heat sink anyway..

I doubt it will work. Especially since oil filters on LT1 probably don't get any air to them. I would say it helps even less than a real oil cooler, which I swear does nothing.

yeah f-bodies don't get that much air space for the filter. It may be minimal or not help at all.

Might work great on other applications with more free space around.

It's just a heat sink. Old idea that has been used on electric motors for years and has been modified to many different parts. Unless the part itself is the thing that is producing the heat I do not see much cooling. They work better on conductive heat rather than radiant heat. Here is the confusion that most people don't know. Most people don't know that their are three types of heat sources and they all have differnet properties. For the average Joe; heat is heat, and some people sale a product knowing this.

Would it work on a V6 car....our oil filter is easy accesible and doesn't look like it is restricted from air. Also doesn't that think work like the metal things on micro-processor's. It disapates the heat faster?

To be honest - I don't see how it's gonna help on anything.
If the filter were MADE with those grooves in it - or had a heat sink type outer shell - it may do some good. But here - you've got a metal sleeve covering the filter - holding some heat between the two, then the wrap just dissipates the heat that gets to it.

What would be better about that than just letting the oil filter let the heat out period? Now it's just transferring the heat to somewhere else before letting it out...
