:UPDATE: progress on the Z28
Ok the painter called today and told me that there was a problem with the car and i needed to come up there. So i go up there and he tells me that my car was in a accident and that he would fix the problem for free and that the labor was also free on the spray. So he proceded to tell me that when a local lighting company was replacing there lights to some newer more bright ones one of the workers had dropped the light assembly onto my roof. Im getting pissed and scared that it bent the windsheild metal or something. So he walks me back and shows me the damage. It cracked the hard top in 5 places and left about a 6" hole where the bracket that holds the light up hit the car. So i began thinking that this wasnt a bad thing totaly. I called a local junk yard and asked if they had a t top camaro out there and they did. so i went to them and bought all of the stuff. When i got back to the paint shop the I told the owner what i was gonna do. So after 6 hours and alot of cussing my hard top is now a t top. I know that this will remove chassis strength but i already have a roll cage and sub frames so im not woried.
Now back to the work of doing the conversion. I had to converte my 10 point back to a 8 point becuse of the hoop being in the way of the t tops. so now i am removing the cage totaly and ordering a new one just so that the cage looks untouched. the old one will go in the 95 if its salvageable.
now paint should be done by the end of next week and then it will sit up there at the painter for a week more and then be buffed. once i get the car back i will take plenty of pics and answer any questions anyone may have.
As for the interrior. I have decided not to glass the doors and just go with some fire bord door panels. The speaker box will still be fully glassed as will the amp rack. Im still debating on glassing the rear panels too.
The audio system is being ordered in 3-4 weeks. The fiberglass box will house 2 JL 12w7's and there will be a pair of Jl slash series 1000/1 mono block amps. The rear and door speakers are a set of JL componets.
I still havent finished the brushed aluminum console and may never as B&m has came out with a new carbon fiber magnium grip prostick. I may just make the whole console out of carbon fiber.

Re: :UPDATE: progress on the Z28
well that sucks, but it looks like you made out on it. Be nice If I had a reason to spend money t-tops.....Your car sounds like it is going to be a beast. Just take lots of pictures for us
Re: :UPDATE: progress on the Z28
Pictures, pictures !
I want to see that front end !
BTW your not worried about weight at all ?
Seems strange to build some hp, then add several hundred pounds of dead weight to the car.
Strictly a show car ?

Re: :UPDATE: progress on the Z28
the body kit weighed 15lbs more than the stock and with the body filler it took to mold it in (less than a gallon makes the new weight about 20 lbs heaver than the stock bumpers and then add in the loss from the new carpet it weighed 15 lbs less than the stock carpet annd the racing seats weigh almost 60 lbs less than the stock seats then with the stock rear seats removed the car weighs about 100 lbs less than stock the add in other stuff that i removed like ac and various other stuff then once i finish the sterio system the car will weigh maby 100 lbs heaver than stock which isnt bad thats only loosing 1 tenth of a second stock so what ill run a 13.9 stock but with the car making close to 550 and well over 600 when the d1sc gets here then i should still have a pretty quick car and still have it look like a show car
