unpainted Carbon Fiber hood on a BLACK 94 Z?

I know this is bordelining with rice ... but i figuered, since its a black car, with a black unpainted CF hood,, it should be TOO TOO bad !!!

what do u guys think ?

i found a local guy who makes them for cheap AND top notch work .. im gonna get a lot of my interior done by him .. i would also like a lighter hood with a small cowl or whatever other design i might come up with later...

Should look pretty good since you car is black that way it is more
slick looking and doesn't stand out like it would on a orange or red car.

BTW: Might wanna put your Flamer retarded suit on

j/k

I saw a Carbon hood on a black Audi and it looked REAL nice. I thought about doing the same thing on my Z but ended up buying an OEM SS hood instead.

I don't think it would be rice at all.On our cars they serve a purpose other than just being there,we lose unwanted weight with them. It's to bad there isn't more of a selection C/F parts for our cars.

It's not going to save you that much weight vs. a fiberglass hood.

But it will look just fine.

Are CF hoods paintable? What are the advantages of them over fiberglass?

Any (lower priced) commercially available CF hood isn't real Cf, it's fiberglass with a thin layer of CF on top... so there is NO advantage, other than looks.

I personally love the looks. If you do too, go for it.

http://www.carbonfibrefx.com/

well thats the guy .. dont know him personally .. but thru a friend .. keep in mind that all those prices are in CDN$ and u need to divide them by 1.55 to get USD ...

also those are parts he has molds for .. so if we all decide to get a certain type of interior part made out or a certain design of hood .. it will be cheaper for ALL of us .. cuz we will split the cost of the mold for it ..

and his stuff is TRUE CF .. not FG with a thin later of CF ..

CF is stronger and lighter and looks hella cool .. those are the 3 main reasons for getting CF .. if u wanna paint over it .. just get it in FG .. i think FG is only about 150 bucks cheaper once the mold is made .. the material isnt that expensive from what i hear

i'll get in touch with him locally ... you guys should post ur interests for interior parts and hoods so i can bargain with him on the pricing...

(hope this thread doesnt get locked, im not selling anything here.. not making any profit ... )
