Much like park bench wings and other tasteless, tacky behavior, neons were popularized by ricers. So.....

I wouldn't call any of those old style classics at the car shows with the neons rice... "pimpin", but not rice.

Bryan: I think white ones look very clean. Sometimes I wish I'd gone with that instead of red, and there's no legal issues with white that i've ever heard of

I thought the underbody neon trend was started by the lowrider crowd of the early nineties?

I believe that neons were a lowrider thing originally.

I've got a Red '97 Camaro, I plan on getting Red underbody neons on my car, and then get black lights under my seats. I think that would look hot.

WHO CARES where it came from, what a stupid comment made by a stupid person. If a chinese man came up with the idea for a radio, would you not own one? I put yokohama tires on my car, was that started by a ricer? And where the hell was you when that "ricer" put those neons on b/c it sounds like you saw the first set of neons EVER put on a ricers car.

Anyone who calls something else a ricer ranks right up there with a big pile of crap that my dog just left! Grow up b/c you remind me of my 4 year old nephew.

And yea, I have underbody neons. But if you look at my car, and you still call me rice, then your a freaking idiot. I personally think whoever started the neon trend was a smart person. Look at where it is today.

I have a silver firehawk with a purple neon kit that I haven't installed yet. It comes with 2 48" and 2 36" tubes with brackets, transformer and switch with wiring. Got them from Beamriders on boxing day for half price, $99.99 Canadien. I just need someone to help me install them for some cash. I'm in the Vancouver area if anyone in my area has installed these on a 4th gen.

My neons looked great on my green Z.
They're installed on my Black Z but not hooked up yet- I'm going to hook up the interior (license plate under the seats) neons to a green ashtray switch, then hook the exterior neons to a second foglight switch. Whenever I get em in, I'll get some pics for you guys.

and imho, rice is making your car look fast when it isnt... I don't quite see how having neons makes your car look faster...
but in the "everything appearance is rice" person's defense, if your car looks like a video game, it might be a tad overdone. but the majority of ours are quite tasteful.

It's rice, neons do not belong on Camaros.

Man why does everyone have to categorize stuff

CAR RACISTS!

I have a dream that one day my son can go out buy whatever he likes at the time and not be called a ricer!

I HAVE A DREAM that you guys will quit being so persistant in labeling everything!

I HAD A DREAM that I had my wheels, man I wish i wasn't broke

Key word popularized.

Appearance "things" are not necessarily rice, but DAMN, they sure can be tacky
