I will add for you Zach that when I started the project that there were not many, if any HID projector beam units on the market, and the ones that were out were well over $1000. On the 93-97 models, it is impossible to mount a light/s under a clear cover without bumps where the lights are because the rake of the hood to the nose is not steep enough. I have always thought the lights on these cars sucked (I have owned two 96 t/a's, one 97 formula ram air, and the current 97 ram air). I have always wanted to do something different, and I did back in the day. I bought the square housings that had the interchangable bulbs for it. They were an improvement, but not much. I started on what I guess is now called "the sleepy eye" project over 3 years ago with a local machine shop, then took on the project myself in my garage. In reality, all actual time taken to build this has been less then 10 hours. It sounds stupid I know, but when I really sat down and thought about it, this was the easiest to build, and VERY cheap. Right now I am looking into projector beams for it, since the biggest issue has been glare for oncoming traffic. I would love to get my hands on some new Vette headlights, but the PIAA's are all I could find that were reasonably priced at the time.
So please, tell me more on a better light set up for the 93-97 Firebirds/Trans Ams. I would love to hear it, look into it, maybe even build it to see how it looks. I am always open to suggestion. And if you are a purist, that does not think that modifying anything on the car is a good idea, so be it. You are more than entitled to your opinion. I do however notice that you do not even own a 93-97 firebird/Trans Am, only a 2000, so you already have better lighting on your car than those of us with our years. You should see how much MORE light my setup makes than yours does, and how extensively much MORE light I make than any conversion 93-97 headlight. It is really unreal. I only wish I could get rid of the glare issue!
Oh yeah, and by the way, I only have these headlights, and the VFN 4 inch ram air hood on my car, so if that makes my car ricey, so be it, I guess I am a ricer. Oh yeah, I also have the little plastic thingys behind the side windows made out of aluminum as well, so I must be a ricer!

I was only commenting that I had previously done the "bulb change" upgrade, and it was better, but not as good as this set up I now have built.
So again I ask, please tell me why you think the sleepy eye mod (can it really be called that, since I think only myself, and perhaps one or two others actually have them?) is rice? Are there alot of ricer cars running around with their headlights only half way open? Or is it because this "mod" was first done on an import? Tell me what you would like to see, I will attempt to build it, I like new ideas, and I like a challenge!
