where do people get there cars tinted in northern illinois? Whats legal in illinois, how dark can you go on the sides and back?

 

Not sure about illinois, but I'd say that 15% is about the norm. Depends how much tollerance you have for cops. I have 5% on my beater VW out here in Germany and it's hard to see at night.

 

20% on back window...35% on side windows thats what i did

 

5% all the way around except the windshield you will love the look of it.

 

In Illinois you cannot have the driver's side window tinted unless the car was made before 1982. So when i bought mine the sides were already tinted so i just peeled them off. i didnt want one side tinted and not the other. My rear window is still tinted though and it is pretty dark. a bunch of my friends went to 5% i thinkon their cars. i do see plenty of cars running around with the drivers side tinted but i guess it all depends on the cops in the town. in my town some are jerks so i dont do anything to get there attention.

 

You cant have any on the drivers side like stated above, but as far as I know, for the back, there is no limit. Some people can get away with tinted windows but it depends who you are, and where you live really. I'm going to go 5% all around, but I only drive my car a few times a month, so I'm not to worried about it.

 

where are you located in nothern IL?? also i went 2% all the way around on my 2 Z's it's a daily driver but it's registered in MI so im legal when i visit ill. but as my 95 has ILL plates so i get harassed every now and then. they care more about no front plate then window tints.

Alright guys, im getting my back tinted friday morning. Im going to do 5%. The guy told me it was only $85!!! Best deal ive found yet, everybody else wants $130,180,150,175....

Seems a little high to me with those prices. Heck I'm going to be getting mine done and it's going to cost me $150.00 for the hatch, and two side windows at 20% tint.

I'd shop around some more and talk to some people that live in you're are who have tint jobs of there cars.

I got quotes from a local guy that seems to do great work. He said the rear would be $100 and the sides are $50 and the rates dont go up for the sides no matter what its on. I would find some one that has experience with doing the back glasses on these. Just my opinion.
