im not really sure if where talking about the same thing. im talking about the after market ones people usually get on the top of their TB? did someone put it on ur car befor u got it or does it look like a factory part? i think its just dead weight if its the one im talking about.
There is an open "chamber" under the TB top cover plate. That chamber connects 1) the port on the side of the TB that supplies clean/metered air to the PCV system, via the hose from the TB to the passenger side valve cover, and 2) the opening in front of the throttle blades that supplies that clean metered air.
If you remove the cover plate, you will open up the chamber, and allow unfiltered, unmetered air to enter the TB, and to enter the crankcase system..... in effect, it throws things pretty much out of whack, because the system (via the MAF sensor) no longer has any idea how much air is entering the combustion chambers. 93 speed-density systems would not have the air measurement problem, but you would still be admitting unfiltered air to the engine.

I would leave it on. they dont weight that much Maybe 1.5 lbs if you are lucky.
