taillight panel

ive been trying to find out exactly how other ta guys blacked out the rear filler panel between the two taillight. i used nailpolish remover to take off the paint, and then i sanded down the raised letter where it used to say Firebird. but what do i use to polish it back to its original shine?

No, no, no... don't paint it... at least I wouldn't paint it

Just sand it last with some super fine sandpaper like 1500 grit or so. Then, use some compound on it to make it look better. Then, finally follow all those steps up with some glaze (like a fine compound). After the glaze, the panel will look like a brand new piece of plastic.

I definitely wouldn't paint it.

finish panel can be removed and painted cheap. Very little surface area, and prep is a breeze! Just provide your WU code and any reputable body shop can match the paint code. Other than that, a good wet sand with some fine paper, plenty of buffing, and maybe a hand application of clear-coat?
