T-Top Conversion Estimates??
Assuming i purchased all the factory parts neccessary for a t-top conversion (i.e.- t-tops, pillars, headliner, etc etc) how much would i approximately need to spend on the labor for the conversion from a body shop?
Would i experience any problems with water leakage?

Ha If you can get a body shop to do it for you, you're one lucky man. Most won't even dare touch it with a 40 foot pole. See, you've got to cut the frame and do custom work. If they snip to much off, the car may be ruined. Now I bet if you looked far enough, you could find a "Custom" body shop. They usually do roof chops and other frame modifications. But if they do it, it might get a little costly. You might be better off finding someone who's already done this mod who lives near you and ask if they could assist you.

Maybe there is a board member near you that has done it on his own car and wouldn't mind helping you out with the conversion.
I was considering doing the conversion and found someone that lived within 2 hrs of me. He offered his garage, tools, and experience in exchange for beer and pizza
I decided to just keep mine a hardtop and sell it for a newer t-top TA but the help was out there for me.
Maybe do a search on t-top conversion and see where all of the people are from that have done this. Just an idea.
Good luck.

I had a place here do my car for, gasp $1000. They did a pretty good job though, I just have to get new weather stripping on. They improved on the lip area in the front so it's stronger than factory. About the leaks, well, if you have good stripping, that should solve any problems. If you're willing to travel, I can give my guy a call for you, I noticed you're in Jersey, so it's a drive, but well worth it in the end. I just got to make sure he's not working on another project at that time cause he really likes to take his time.

Before I decided to do the conversion myself, I went out and got a few estimates from custom body shops. The average quote was anywhere from 800-1000 dollars for the conversion. At first I was really considering it, I didnt think it was THAT bad of a price. UNTIL I did the conversion myself. Now Im SOOOO glad I did it myself, and saved a grand. If you have all the proper tools, parts, and guidance (CZ28.COM), I think youll be ok with the conversion yourself. But to each his own! Good Luck!

TechCam 97 is on target. Most shops dont like to do t-top conversions unless they custom shops. I got and estimate to get the roof chopped on my 88' caprice. They wanted 2300.00 for just the fronts, but offered to do the backs too for a crazy 4 panel top car.

Hard top >>>T-Top
As far as prices from bodyshops go, I cant help ya there. I did it my self useing daves t-top page and the other one and it went quite smoothly. only took 2 days from first cut to leak check!
