Sunoco Hood for 93-97 Z?

I have been searching a little bit trying to find the Sunoco hood for a 93-97 Z, I find plenty for the 98-02 bodies, but none for the LT-1s... anybody know if this is possible? Love the look of it almost as much as the Ultra Z hood. I would get the Ultra Z hood if i could just find a fiberglass NON-functional version of it, but again, nothing to be found.

Anybody ever see the Sunoco to fit LT-1s?

Yeah, that VFN website is where I found the ls1 style and thought it looked really good. Anybody else know where or when this will become up for sale?

I've been waiting for one to come out for a while now.
I wish they would hurry up.

Re: Sunoco Hood for 93-97 Z?

I wonder if it's going to look as good as an LS1 Sunoco hood if it doesn't have the "ripples" on the sides and instead is just flat like all the other LT1 hoods. I'd like to see someone photochop a whole LS1 Sunoco hood onto an LT1 and then do it again except photochop only the Sunoco cowl scoop over a regular LT1 hood to see which looks better.

i kinda had the same doubts too... the LS1 hood with the "ripples" might be what makes it look so good. It might just look like a cowl hood on an LT1... oh well, guess we will have to wait and see. I could do a photochop job, but i dont think it would help me make a decision.

Re: Sunoco Hood for 93-97 Z?

Not the best but I forgot to do it last night and did a quick dirty one.

The images I used might not have been the best because the full hood pic doesn't really show the ripple in the LS1 hood very well. The hood had so many different colors on it due to shadow and the reflections of the sky and trees that it was hard to color match.

This is one with the "cowl" only.

Not sure if it helps much but its a start.

Edit:

One more that shows the hood lines a little better.
Color sampling is still off but you guys get the point.

i guess it depends if they incorporate the hood vents into it or not. If they do, it would look nice, but w/o them, it just looks like a normal cowl hood. The silver one you did is nice, a little more streamlined and low and curvy... Id look into getting one if/when they make it.

Re: Sunoco Hood for 93-97 Z?

I'm definitely liking the cleaner lines of the LS1 hood better. However I had an idea: maybe instead of Sunoco making an LS1 hood that just fits an LT1 car, why not make an LT1 specific design that follows the same theme but differentiates it from it's LS1 counterpart?

Here's what I'm thinking: if you look at the "cowl only" pic, the lines of the original LT1 hood that run up and meet the scoops are almost in perfect alignment with the outer edges of the Sunoco scoop itself. What if, instead of making a hood that looks like a Sunoco scoop was glued onto a stock hood, they deleted the stock hood scoops but kept the lines that formed the scoops. The only difference being that the lines would start at the front edge of the hood and only run halfway up it, but would still be in the same alignment as the ones on a stock hood. What it would basically look like is an LS1 Sunoco hood that has one BIG ripple on each side instead of the two smaller ones. I think by eliminating the stock LT1 hood scoops and leaving all the lines on the hood pointing from front to back, it would make the hood look less "busy." What do you think?

Appreciate the effort with Photoshop GetaZforgetGT, that really helped out.

Re: Sunoco Hood for 93-97 Z?

If you want those ridges in the stock hood to start at the base of the hood, you will have weird fitment issues with where it meets the lights and bumper. The reason it works on the LS1 hood is because the lights have a nice starting point for those "creases" to begin at. Since the LT1 hood has recessed headlights, it would look a little weird i think. But you may be onto something here.

What if they start at the same place that they normally do on the stock hood, but travel all the way to the back of it and get rid of the vents? \ \SCOOP/ / That way they dont start somewhere awkward at the front of the hood and look out of place.

Forgive the computer drawing... LOL But get the idea?
