Steem clean clean engine
Steem clean clean engine
I'm buying a new camaro(Signature has info) and the engine looks a lil dirty and stuff and I seen this dude who had got his engine steem cleaned and the **** looked real good. I want to know if this is good for your car and how good of a job will it do?
Steam cleaning the engine compartment would probably take all the dirt and grime and everything off. And the parts in the engine compartment should be able to handle the temps of the steam. Steam cleaning is one of the best ways to clean things, Just not done alot because there are not alot of people who have that equipment.
there's a hand wash car wash place by my house and they also do steam cleaning. They use a house outside. I seen them doing it to a toyata corrola and it looked like they just kinda sprayed it like a water house. I looked other places and they told me to make sure the cover the distributar cap with a trash bag. So you think its a good idea right?
you have an LS1.. you don't have a distributor cap really lol. I think that most cars these days are actually distributorless. they use a reluctor ring on the crank for a crank position which tells the ignition when to fire. And you have individual coils per cylinder.. soo I would say you don't have to worry about that. One thing not to do is spray it into the air filter or the throttle body... water in those is not good. as far as spraying like water. it might look like that, but there should not be as much water so much as condensation. from the super heated water.. I suppose it could look similar, but a normal water hose is not going to work for real steam.
Stay away from any acidic cleaners
Try to find some sodium hydroxide it works well....
You more than likeley will be using whats called WET steam its about 200 degreesF the old style "steam machines" from years ago are very unsafe
Where you located?

Ahh see that i didn't know. so really you are not using steam. just water that is near the point of boiling. So it is basically a heatered preassure washer
Yeah it said steam cleaning, but didn't look to much like steam so I'll check it out, but I stay in la and stay away from what. Tell me exactly ehat I should stay away from and is the acid in the steam and I shouldn't use the old steamers. Kind of break it down? Thanks.
Stay away from acid based cleaners. Biggest reason is acid based cleaners tend to chew up you plastic and rubber parts. You will need to find one that is plastic friendly. Sorta like when you clean off your TV or Computer monitor. have to get plastic safe stuff. else is ruins the surface finish.
acid can also pit metals and eat up coatings...you can't just use acid and rinse it with water.....it has to be nuetralized.....
Solvent cleaners work good.....so I would try to find some sodium hydroxide(should be able to find it at your local pump shop/power washing supply place) after you use that then just a rag and some paint thinner or something like that
The wet steam is also very dangerous doing an engine...if 200 degree water splashes on you it will burn you pretty bad so be careful or let a pro do it.....
BTW purple power and super clean are acidic
