Question State law for hood height?

I've called the DMV, local municipal building and two police depts. None could tell me what the legal limit for NJ was on a hood.

I also looked on the DMV's website and nothing.

Anyone know where I can find out?

I think it's just as long as it isn't blocking your vision of the road
If dmv or if you go to the DA and they don't know I wouldn't even worry about it

If i remeber corectly, it is 4 inches. Such as a Cowl hood, no higher than 4 inches. I could be mistaken though.

I doubt that it is 3 inches...if the police station can't even tell you what the limit is then how are they gonna give tickets? So you should have nothing to worry about....The cowl hood on my car isn't even mentioned at time of inspection, so I am sure that in Jersey it is the same

here in VA
law is hood scoop can not be taller then 1 1/8th" for a 91 and up car from where the dash meets the windsheild
trooper measured my hood in as 2 5/8" and i got me a ticket
beat it in court saying that i dont have a hood scoop i have a cowl induction hood. pulled out the old dictionary for a "scoop" and all and after we told the judge this the trooper and the attorny had nothing else to say and the judge threw it out due to the technacally of it

stupid VA laws
we also have that damned front licence plate law
