This is starting to get stupid, shouldn't we support each other?

I don't post here that often. I prefer trolling around and using the search feature. There is a lot of great info on this site, but I'm finding far too many negative statements against other peoples cars.

You all forget that although we may THINK we are at the top of the social elite of the automobile industry, the rest of the automobile community look at us as rednecks, white trash, greasers and gino's.

Am I wrong?

So I can't figure out why everytime someone adds a wing to their car, or tints their windows a certain color or adds a body kit or adds 20" rims to their car they are considered RICE.

If you do nothing to your car expect for engine and suspension mods are you then a REDNECK?

I think we should support each other in our own choices.

There is a post in this forum that bashes a V6 Firebird because it has some mods on it, and the guy added Trans Am logo's on it. Who cares?

Instead of supporting him, you bash the hell out him.
Does it make you feel better? Do you go to bed at night thinking your car is better than his because you have a V8?

How are we creating an inviting Camaro community if we keep bashing each other because of a simple mod.

I have worked with auto journalists who care little for Camaro. The resurgence of the Camaro has nothing to do with them, it has to do with us.

So what does that mean? When the 5th Gen comes out, and some kid buys a V6 (because he can't afford an 8) then decides to put large rims or a underbody light kit, are we all going to welcome him to the forum by bashing him?

That would suck, that would be white trash, redneck, etc.

And do you think he'd stick around here?

Lets try and encourage people to contribute in a positive way!!

Peace

Hey, at least you're honest about it.

Well put, I made a similar argument in that guy's defense on the V6 Trans-Am thread.

I think it's more redneck to have altezza's and follow the cheap looking APC product trend; rather than do subtle mods that are not thrown together at random from the pep boys catalog.

But personally, I don't care what others do to their car. If they make it look uglier in my eyes, it only makes mine look all that much better.

BTW drive through a trashy neighborhood you'll see alot more APC products there than a nicer part of town.

But anyway this is just my point of view. So please don't take offense, I'm not trying to put anyone down.

that particular thread about the v6 trans am is ancient. he didnt have pictures of his engine bay showing that he had a v6 in his cardomain at the time, and he claimed to have a trans am... thats why people were bashing. now if you look at his cardomain he has pictures of the v6 and is no longer denying it. now that i have defended the people bashing it, i also agree with you that starting a thread just for bashing isnt the best idea either.

Nobody bashed him for having a V6 and modding it, it's the fact that he badged it as a WS6 T/A that's got everyone ticked.

That makes it even worse. If he didn't let on that his car was a 6, but yet showed pics of his T/A and WS6 badges, that's even more wrong.

Re: This is starting to get stupid, shouldn't we support each other?

I guess people have thier own opinions...? If someone doesn't like something and the person is asking for feedback, why not give him what he wants? If I asked for a mod, and a couple people told me the truth (they thought it was ugly) then maybe I'd think twice about it. I'd rather have the truth, rather than a bunch of lies just to make my happy. Everyone has thier own taste in cars, thats what makes it unique. Hell if the guy put T/A badges on his car because he thought it was cool, good for him, 99% of us would think he's an idiot/poser but its our opinion. And really, its our own opinion that matters. I'm going to do something because I want to do it, not because someone else wants me to. Yes, I will consider what other people think/say just because they are giving me opinions, but ultimately it's my decision.

I'm not sticking up for people degrading others cars by no mean...but lets be honest here, not fake.

Thanks.

Let's not forget people who ask bonafide questions and get belittled because the technical aptitude of the thread starter was not up to the speed of others. Case in point, I read a while back about some guy who asked how to connect a couple wires for an electric cutout. All the guy asked was how to connect the wires in a butterfly connector and he got bashed for asking such a "simple" question. He was even told to go by a book or take a class. And this was from a supposed well respected and very helpful technician on this board. The guy actually got booted from this site for defending himself.

I think the internet, and it's impersonal nature is what makes people more evil than they would be in person. Maybe....cause, they can get away with it?

As far as people adding mods.... I agree. Now there is nothing wrong with giving your opinion in a civil way, especially when the person posts a picture of their car in the Appearance sections.

LOL...never heard of a mod being, "redneck."

I dont like that, asking help is asking help...Obviously you asked a question because you did not know the answer to it. Hell if everyone knew everything, this world would be incredible and probably not exist. Everyone asks thier fair share of "stupid" questions. What ever happened to the school expression "there is no such thing as a stupid question?"

I really agree with the starter of this thread, there needs to be a helluva lot more support out there for people and less threads started just to bash.

I'm not sure of this particular incident or what led to it. BUT, if any of you see anybody giving somebody a hard time, REPORT THE POST IMMEDIATELY. It doesn't matter how simple or stupid many might think the question is. This site encourages all to take part... the novice and the experienced. We all started at the bottom and we all learned at some point what we now view as "simple" and take for granted.

If people don't want to help somebody because they view it too easy or "stupid" then SAY NOTHING AT ALL. Let those who would like to help, help the less experienced and stay out of the thread of you have nothing of value to add. One should not try to make themselves look good or smart by only making somebody else look bad or stupid... that'll get you nowhere in life.

So, please, report posts by hitting the little "Report this post" icon when you see behavior of type. Thanks!
