SS "wannabe"?
SS "wannabe"?
Ok, I am buying an SS hood and Spoiler for my 02 Z. My question however is, will this be considered an SS "wannabe?" I dont plan on putting any SS badges on (keeping the Z28 badges) so I dont plan on advertising it, but I just love the looks of the hood and spoiler. Anyone have any thoughts on the subject
The general consensus is that you can do the SS hood, SS spoiler, SS wheels and be "cool" but as soon as you do the SS badges that'll make you a "poser"
I say go for it as well. I've got three SSs so if a "real" SS guy is telling you to go for it (the real SS guys tend to be the most obnoxious about this subject
), it must be OK. LOL!

GO FOR IT!!!! I have a smorgasbord SS Wannabe myself. I have a 96Z with a 97 OEM SS hood and a 98 OEM SS spoiler and a set of 02 SS 10 spokes..... I put on the 69 vintage Z/28 emblems instead of SS badges to avoid the "poser" status mentioned earlier. I really didn't want to go the SS badge route as I like the vintage Z badges much better
I've actually considered trading out my "JET Z28" vanity plates for a set of new "SSWANAB" ..... but nah nevermind

Not much that really makes an SS a SS excpet for hood and spoiler. I say if you have everything on your car an SS has you can thrrow on the SS badges too. Call it a clone if you want. Hell when the first new SSs came out they had Z28 on it too so who is wannabeing who here.
Thats what im going to do... (keep Z badges)
I dont think theres anything wrong with it... just dont get a fake number identification plate.... thats wrong. I was thinking about putting both badges on, but then realized that would look horrible since they are two different types of lettering(font). for example, if you have the RS ground effect and spoiler package on a Z, you could use both z/28 and RS badges because they are the same lettering(font).
edit: how exactly would you be posing if thats what the SS package is? Its not like slapping a type R sticker on a civic in my opinion because thats calling its something its not.

I've put the SS parts on sans badges. Nothing wrong with hood, spoiler, whhels...like stated earlier, they're just parts.
I've done it, I condone it, and I don't call it a 'poser', but rather an imposter.

I would.
I figure even a person wants to put SS badges on their Camaro it's fine. Plenty of people take all badgeing off the car, for a V6 look. That's not posing - that's customizing for personal taste.
Badges, we need no stinking badges!
The line is crossed when that person tries to sell the car as something it's not.
