ss spoiler install (wiring)

Alright guys, I know there are a lot of topics on this but take my word for it that there is none with my problem. Ok, first of all from what I read when you wire the spoiler up the light comes on all the time, it just doesn't glow brighter when you brake. I can get mine to come on with the car. However, when I brake the light completely shuts off instead. This is how I wired it up. There are 2 light bulbs with 2 yellow wires and 2 black wires. The extra yellow and black wire are splices. So I removed both splices just leaving 1 yellow and 1 black wire. The main wires that is. From there I just hooked the ground to the black wire, and the power to the yellow wire. I read about wiring that relay up, but will this be the same situation for my problem? I'm not sure where to start.
