SS hoods (original eh?)

I've been looking for an SS hood for my 93-07. However, I wouldn't trust my luck with glass or CF hoods without the pins. Does anyone know of someone that makes an aftermarket hood where I wouldn't need pins? Someone suggested using weights on the hood but that sounded iffy..
I would try to find the OEM hood, but I would really like to keep the expenses < $500
I wanted functional ram air, and a good looking SS (or very similar looking) hood. The pins would kind of kill the latter of those 2. >.<

Any suggestions or criticisms appreciated, thanks

Well there were plenty of good SS style hoods out there. For instance RK Sports has one. It weighs 50lb. and mounts with stock hardware. Only the light weight performance hoods are a problem. Look for picts. of the bottom side of the hood, if it has all the "stock type" reinforcement and mount locations it should be fine.

I have a Harwood 2.5" Bolt-On Cowl

They also have a 2.5" Cowl Ram Air

These are direct Bolt-Ons, and much lighter. I've had mine on my car for 3 years now with ZERO issues. Had the car over 100 mph quite a few times, beat on it through corners, burnouts, etc...

I wouldn't be worried about any issues with the hood staying on, it's very well supported in the hood latch area and bolt areas. Keep in mind Harwood has been making 'Glass' hoods for 35 years now, so I would expect they would know the proper methods to ensure the hood doesn't fail.

I got mine from SummitRacing.com for ~$500 shipped (Requires Truck Freight due to size) but it seems as though they've gone up slightly
