SS hood grill

I just bought a fiberglass SS hood off of ebay. I wanted to put some sort of grill in the hood. I was wondering should i cut the "ram air" parts out or just leave it alone because im going to stick with my moroso CAI. And where can i get a grill for the hood.

Re: SS hood grill

There are 2 styles of hood grilles, the 96-97 style and the 98+ style, they are each different size and shapes. There are some LT1 SS hoods that come with the 98 grill in the scoop but they are made for them. You can find the 98+ hood scoop grill in several places, afterthoughts is one of them. The only place i could find a 96-97 style was straight from SLP. I had a friend with a 97SS order me one. As for cutting the hood open for air, it will help keep the engine bay cooler, but my engine bay seems to get dusty/dirter with the ram air open.

Re: SS hood grill

i personally wouldnt cut it at all. If you can try to find a grill to fit in there. But even if you do that, you can still paint it. Also im looking for a cheap ss hood, and have been considering ebay. When you get it, do you think you could post up again and let us (me in particular) know what the quality is like? I'd appreciate it. Oh, and again, DONT CUT IT... YOU'LL WISH YOU DIDN'T...

Re: SS hood grill

We have specific forums for specific topics.... "hood" questions don't belong on "LT1 Engine Tech". Moving to "Appearance".
