spring install

is it easy to install springs on my 96 camaro? i just got my pro kit in and i want to put it on but the place that i was gonna take it wants 175$. so i was gonna do it my self

The rear springs are easy. The front springs are a bit difficult because of the need to use a spring compressor. These can be "rented" for free at AutoZone but, keep in mind, they can be dangerous if not used properly or carelessly.

$175 is steep. My buddy (who never changed F-Body springs before) changed both my front and rear springs AND shocks in a little over 1.5 hours. If you figure $60 an hour, I wouldn't pay anymore than $100 to change springs because spring only changes don't require removing the rear shocks.

Like I always say... if these people want to charge the professional rates then they need to have the tools to do it in a reasonable amount of time IMO. $175 for 1.5 hours work seems high to me.

its pretty easy to do...but like brent said u need a spring compressor and be carefull.... when they break it aint fun....had that happen on last car i was working on... spring hit car parked near it
