Spray paintin Z emblem

Im thinking of spray painting my Z28 emblems on the side of the car. The car is black and so are the emblems and you cant really see them so Im thinkin of chrome, but will spray paint look cheaply done or will it look fine? Anyone done this? is there a cheap alternative that will look better?

Camarosho, I'm interested also.
I just cracked my front left fender, which will have to be replaced, So I'm going to pull the Z28 emblem off of it and paint it Chrome and put it on the back.
Email me at JayBaste7@aol.com if you don't mind and give me some input/suggestions/recommendations/advice/etc
Thanks,
J

sure no prob
well it involves a little precise cutting and some good ol kindergarden haha
you know when you were little you would take like a leaf and put a peice of paper and trace over it with a pencil and the shape would start to emerge on the paper, thats the basic concept.

Supplies
-white blank sheets of paper
-sharp scissors
-scotch tape, pencil
Chome tape from any auto parts store (it is really relfective and i think it suppossed to be put along to bottom of trucks or something) it's by the pin stripping section and stickers

1. Take the peice of paper and tape it too the car with the Z28 emblem underneath it. Sketch it using the side of the pencil lead and all the edges will start to show up, do it lightely over and over

2. Once you get a good image of the Z28 emblem cut it out of the paper, as a rectangle with all the emblem showning

3. Take that peice and tape it onto the front of the chrome tape with the backing still ontape all around the edges.

4. cut out each peice trying as close as possible to follow the lines, the hardest part are the little inserts where it breakes apart, but thats what makes it look good cause those indentations will still be black

5. then with each individual peice of chrome tape it to the corresponding peice on the emblem

BE alittle patient it might take aliitle time to get the shape just cut right, all in all it isnt that hard, looks good, you dont have to tke the emblems off at all, and you only have to buy that tape, and you'll have a ton left over, i have broke even by doing to other peoples Z's. If there is anything i didnt explain correctly please let me know

also you'll need to do that for each emblem (all 3)

depends on how patient you are in putting them on, could you tell mine were tape?
II have never had anyone question the emblems and every body i have done them for have loved them, but it's all about what you want and how good of a job you think you can do, they have not peeled or darkened in 4 years, again look at the pic and decide for yourself

One would think that the tape would peel off or come off when you wash the car???
Have you not had any problems with this?
When you wash the car do you just lightly spray the emblem or do you wash as normal with no problems.

washed my car many times in 4 years haha, never a problem, with a pressure washer at a do it yourself place, just dont concentrate all of the spray on it for like a minute commen sense, but it is very sturdy. This is designed to go on the out side of a car, it it like trim, it is suppossed to be able to take abuse
