So now i need a new windshield....

All of the sudden i walk out to the car after work today and notice a crack running halfway up the driver side windshield.

It wasnt there this morning, as best i could tell. But it starts from the base of the windshield...

Just when i was getting some money saved up for new rims, this happens.

Anyone have an idea how much it'll cost me?

Insurance will not necessarily cover it. It depends on the state.

I have replaced mine twice, first one was covered under warranty, and the second one wasn't. I went to the dealer and they recommended me the guy that they used for their vehicles. It cost me about $180 parts and labor and he did it at my house. I think it's pretty cheap for living in southern california.

Typically your insurance will cover getting a rock chip in your winshshield filled before it spreads. You probably had one on there somewhere and it spread. Sorry to hear that.

I had my Caddy windshield replaced for free by my insurance company (no deductible comprehensive), and they put the black around the VIN and the stripe at the top.

In some states, they have free replacement, not even through your insurance company... maybe the state DOT pays for it since it is a result of the roads? Check into that and with your insurance company before you pay for it yourself!

Mine cracked a few weeks ago, and I had it replaced last week by the company my insurance recommended. Cost was about $300, but I only had to pay the $50 deductible.
I'm not satisfied with the job on the trim - it definitly doesn't look as good as before, and there are some gaps in the top. I'm thinking of having it redone - the job is guaranteed for life.
Other than that, the glass is ok. Has the tint and black edges on the glass.
