SLP ZR-1 Wheels?

I'm researching new wheels for the Z. I really like the Fikse FM5s, but cannot justify spending $2800 for wheels, that's just about insane. I am looking at the SLP ZR-1 style wheels from LMPerformance, but have a couple of questions:

1. I've heard most of the ZR-1 style reproduction wheels are heavy Bulgarian-made castings; does this apply to the SLP wheels?

2. Are these the same wheels that SLP put on the Camaro SS when they did the conversions for Chevrolet?

3. What about chrome; does this add a significant amount of weight to the wheel?

If anyone can answer these questions, thanks.

I believe the SLP's aren't a repo they are the same ones used on the SS's so i believe they are high quality. Even if they are repo's SLP usually has high quality stuff and i wouldn't be worried about buying them.

I'd have to disagree on the "SLP=high quality" comment re: their wheels. The finish on the standard rims on my Firehawk is very poor, and seems to get worse all the time. Lots of ugly black bumps on the inner surface of the rims, visible through the spokes. Its going to cost me at least $85 per rim to get the insides polished and recleared; if I want the insides chromed to match the outside, it will be $350 per rim.

A friends Firehawk has the same problem with its rims too.

Bottom line, I would not order rims from SLP. There's a couple of other companies selling the ZR1 style rims (I see their ads in Chev High Performance and High Performance Pontiac); I would deal with them instead.

Thanks for the inputs, guys. Anyone out there have any info on the relative heaviness of the ZR-1 style weights?
