You can use VHT niteshades to tint or black out your lights. Here is a write up on how to do it.

I originally blacked out my taillights, the rear side markers and the 3rd brake light with VHT. But now i have stock taillights and a SS spiler with the LED light, but I kept the rear side markers blacked out.

I have the front marker lights blacked out. I think I bought the kit on ebay but it has been so long that I really don't remember. Be careful though, there is someone selling some on there that are carbon fiber. Make sure that you really read before you purchase. Good luck finding them.
what you are saying is get the tint stuff and put it on the side markers then cut the rest off?
when you say blackout the lights still shine through right? i just want to be clear on that issue

i should have looked at what nightshades were before i posted that last one. sorry. i really want it to be removeable in case it gets scratched or something happens to it i could peel it off and reapply a new one
over here in japan they have this spray that you can spray on taillights and such and it shines through just like nightshades...BUT it's vinyl-like and you can peel it off and reapply it...it's pretty nifty...never used it myself...but i've seen it..i just wish i could read japanese so i could pick up the right spray can....lmao.
I guess you could get some of that diy tint that comes in a roll from wal-mart or something. That way you can have tinted lights that shine through somewhat as bright, and it is removable if you want.
