Okay...as most of you probably know, it takes a LOT of justification for us to create a new forum here as we don't like to spread things out too much and as a reult, new forums are RARELY created.

However...I have been thinking about something for a LONG time...like over a year.

I have noticed a ton of posts in this forum about wheels and tires...so maybe we should add a "Wheels and Tires" forum?

Should I make it and position it right under this forum? If I do, I will rename this forum from "Appearance" to "Styling Modifications" and will rename the forum category from "Care and Maintenance" to "Appearance, Care and Maintenance" or something like that.

If I make the forum should I add suspension to it as well and call it "Wheels, Tires and Suspension"? (for LOWERING suspension posts only, racing suspension posts would still go in the Drag Racing/AutoX forums)

Remember, if this happens it doesn't mean to flood us asking for more forums to be created.

 

Just as a suggestion for future developement i really like how ls1tech is layed out with specific forums like handling/braking, appearance, wheels & tires, etc. Maybe one day something like that would be a nice change. The lt1 tech section is almost out of control with how many topics flood it daily. But i still enjoy the site and would be all for a wheels & tires section.

Jason that sounds like a GREAT idea but here is something to add to it (b/c I'm good for that). Can you make a sticky at the top that list the vendors sites so for example you want Z06 rims, your sticky has SLP and Tbyrne links to them. I was going to say just add links that have Z06 rims but then I figured if you do that, vendors might not sign up b/c they are advertising for free. That would eliminate some of the simple posts asking places to find the rims and if people STILL wasn't happy then they have the option to create a thread.

I know you said you hate making forums but can we have a Babe thread? I've been good this year and Christmas is to damn far away so can we Santa?

 

I like it how it is, having another like ls1.com will just slow both forums down there will be hardly any posts in either :blah:

 

Heh...it won't slow anything down, trust me.

There would be roughly 10-15 new threads a day I think. Not a tremendous amount but the one thing I think of is wheels serve a slightly different purpose on our cars than say, decals and spoilers.

Suspension would be a sort of bonus to the forum.

It was just a thought.

 

i dont think it's necessary to make a wheel & tire forum,but if you do go with the idea make a Suspension forum(wheels &tires included) , and yesthe LT1 forum is HEAVILY fluttered. i think theres close to like 3 pages of new post there a day? BUT im not complaning i love this site !

Do it, and add the suspension part too.

 

Just add the word "Suspension" or something to the Autocross/Road Racing section.

Nothing wrong with a "Wheel/Tire" section either.

If your gonna do suspension make something like suspension and braking combined so it gets more attention. Plus that would clean a bunch of lt1 tech traffic too.

 

Actually, I think doing a wheel and tire forum would be beneficial. Because I know I was doing some research lately on aftermarket Z06 rims to replce my HRE's as everyday rims and there were alot of threads that came up in my searches.

Also I think there could be Useful threads made as sticky with threads that relate to the basic questions such as "will 17x11 rims fit on my Z28/TA" (You know stuff like that) to keep the same old questions from coming up and would really help newbies alot.

And if it was a slow forum what does that matter as long as the info you need was there. Someone is always going to ask/post something different sooner or later.....


Also I think something like shocks/suspension and braking would be a good idea with the same Usefull threads made as stickies

I think we should leave things they way they are.

 

I'm huge on suspension and wheels...the appearance section is full of "what do you think of this"...."look at my sticker". The drag racing a autocross is not used enough...because alot of people think suspension and drag racing don't match. So I really think a tire, wheel and suspension section would be great. Also the tech forums will be less threaded....thanks
