Shortening Antenna

I saw some short antennas on ebay and I was wondering how you think it would look if I got a short antenna? Has anyone done it and like it?

Re: Shortening Antenna

i didn't buy a shorter antenna off ebay...i just chopped my current one down to about 18" or so. The radio reception went down noticably.....if you actually bought a shorter antenna the reception would probably not drop as much though.

I just ordered one from SSInserts.com but won't have it for a couple more days.

Re: Shortening Antenna

I did my friends antenna. We knocked the ball off cut it down to about 8-10 inches and glued the ball back on. no reception problems at all. It just depends where you live how the reception will be affected.

I think I will try that, what did you use to glue the ball in place?

Do it! It looks soooo much better! I didn't notice any reception difference.
