Blackouts, whats your experience?

I got a black 97 z28 and ive been noticing a lot of cars with blackouts, even an aerostar van in my sub . Well I was wondering if I should get a set or not? I think if i would do it, i would do all the lights and put window tint on all my turn signals etc.

I was wondering if the blackouts still allow out enough light and if they change the color of the light?

How do you guys like yours and do you think they are worth the money?

should I do it or just leave the lights alone?

blackouts are alright....just make sure your 3rd brake light is working well, to avoid accidents...

I had em and I didn't like em I had them for about a week before one flew off and they deformed my taillights (melted a flat spot on each one).

Re: Blackouts, whats your experience?

my friend has blackouts on his headlights on his Dodge Avenger (i know i know, it's not a camaro) but his headlights aren't as bright as they were before, but he installed some bright *** fog lights so it's not even like he uses the headlights anymore Anyway, I saw you said you were thinking of tinting your turn signals...RKSport.com has blackouts for everything (headlights, taillights, fog lights, turn signals) i think the side markers are the only thing they don't have blackouts for...but yeah, check Ebay too, lotsa good deals.

Re: Blackouts, whats your experience?

I have taillights blackouts on my Camaro right now, and I like them. They will mess up your taillights a bit though. I have pics (link in sig) of my car w/ the blackouts. I've tried the headlight covers, and I didn't like them because they really reduce the light output. I used to have turn signal blackouts (from RKSport) on my '96, and I liked those as well - I just didn't want them on my current ride.

Re: Blackouts, whats your experience?

Well the front blackouts seriously reduce light, and I lost one of my rear ones just driving.

Re: Blackouts, whats your experience?

I would look into VHT Nightshades paint. Don't have to worry about them falling off or deforming anything. Plus you can make them as light or as dark as you want to. I had some blackout covers on my car too but got pulled over too many times I just gave up. They are illegal here in Texas (except if you are offroad) so I am looking into the paint since it lets more light through.

Mine let plently of light through at night. During the day, it's not bad, but if they are in direct sunlight, I think it can be a tad hard to see.

Re: Blackouts, whats your experience?

FYI: Most states have a law against blackouts... So, be prepared to get stopped if used on the street...

And yes I know alot of you have been driving around and never got pulled over....

My state has laws against everything and I mean everything. But plenty of people have a lot of illegal mods that cops wont give you any trouble for unless you are doin something stupid.
