Sham Wow

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwRISkyV_B8

Anyone use this on their car? I always have issues with cloths leaving junk on my car, and I was never comfortable with a chamois. Besides the dude's accent on the commercial , anyone else have anything to add on this?

Not this brand, but lots of this type of product available. Most work well enough, but do deteriorate with age. Good quality white bath towels work too. Hard to beat a high quality chamois though.

Apparently, it works almost as well as a regular terrycloth towel.

My wife fell for the sham wow TV commercial and bought some. Biggest peice of crap ever. A regular bath towel dries better.

I'm always trying to convince myself to get these for cleaning my car, now I'm glad I didn't.

those are just like a thing we had at our fire department. Its called "firefighter's friend" and its basically just like the sham thing but works way better. You can find in in your local PepZone and AutoBoys place. Works real well

I bought a synthetic chamois from walmart prob at least 8 years ago. It's red and it came in a plastic tube that has a top that pulls off...kinda like a architect uses to store blueprints except the chamois tube is semi clear. I still use it to this day. Works just as well as the one on the commercial.

That's exactly what i'm using, i've had mine for almost 5 years. I throw mine in the washer after a couple of uses and comes out like new, i highly doubt scam-wow can last that long.

The one I have is called 'The Absorber'

But yes it works awesome, REQUIRED for dark colored cars to avoid water spots, but well worth it for any car

I won mine at one of our club gatherings about 5 years ago and it's still 100%, I just throw it in the wash once a season

I think id be washing mine more than once a season.

I occasionally use the Absorber, but im very careful when using it in making sure that there is no dirt or particles left on the paint. Id much rather use a good MF towel instead...

Yeah I agree! I only use it after washing the car, so there's no dirt... I'd never suggest using it on dirty car, that would make a nice mess

Just b/c you wash the car doesnt guarantee that there isnt any dirt, pollen, ect. left on the paint smartass.

Ask anyone who details cars for a living or anyone who knows what their talking about and they'll tell you to be careful about using the Absorber. Even if you wash the car and get it COMPLETELY clean, that doesnt mean that pollen or dirt or something cant be blown onto the car, and the Absorber will scratch the paint a lot more easier than a good MF towel will it it catches onto a piece of dirt or something...

What's an MF towel? Most of the time i dry the car inside the garage for that same exact reason, i don't use alot of pressure while soaking up the water i just gently wipe it until most of the water is soaked up then i use the real fuzzy towel (maybe that's the mf towel?) to get the rest of the water.
