Sequential Turn Signals Problems

Has anybody had problems with their sequential taillights? The outer light on the drivers side quit sequencing after one day, but still came on when the headlight were on. Additionally, the outer bulbs on both sides started to melt the lenses (slightly). It is very possible the problems are due to my install (electrical novice), but I'm wanting to see if anyone else has had these problems Thanks

Well, you probably already checked this but are the wires connected tightly and taped up or capped so they aren't touching anything else? Brent94Z has a chart on his webpage that makes the install straight forward if you already didn't get it.

Yeah, Brent94Z's instructions were very helpful when I was putting the kit in. I checked all the wires several times; during the install, when I'd check to see if they were working, one side would work and the other wouldnt then vice versa and so on. Plus, since the bulbs were coming on when the headlights were on, just not when I was turning or braking, I figured they were getting power and the problem wasnt with the connection. Anyway, this is frustrating.

93Z286SPEED: You can get the full kit (outer bulbs light up) from sequentialturnsignals.com for $85 (supposedly, you get $10 off in you mention Brent94Z's site, but I didnt know that before I ordered mine)

Black_Z28: did you get the full kit, with the outer sockets? If so, are you using to the stock wattage bulbs on the outer lights? Thanks

I just got the normal kit. I didn't feel the need to get the kit that lights up the outer bulbs when the lights are on.

Did you have to replace the outer socket with a different one he supplied? On my TA, I had to buy a different socket. Try swithching the left and right sockets.

Mine doesn't work correctly either, when I have the hazards on they work great. But in reguler turn signal.. the outer one doesn't flash. So I only get the inner two lights flashing. I'm just wondering if it's not a timing thing with the included flasher. Seems like it flashes way too fast.

I battled the aftermarket 3 wire GM light sockets and they all SUCK! I would be will to bet you a beer the reason your outer light doesn't work is because of a poor connection in the aftermarket socket. I ended up buying some GM sockets. They were over $15 EACH as compared to the $4 or so for the AutoZone ones. But, the AutoZone ones don't work so they ain't worth much

As for the melting issue... if the lights are too close, you'll dimple the lights. I believe I have a warning about this on my page??? I was going to try and move mine over a bit. That'll be a job but I'm going to look into it because I have another kit I'll be installing in my 96SS and those lights are good and I don't want to dimple them

robtombie: it sounds like you're having the same problem. I also thought the lights sequenced too fast. They still look cool, but it made me think maybe there was a problem with the kit.

brent94z: first off, thanks for the great install guide you have on your page. it made it alot easier, especially with the pics. i read the warning about melting the lenses, but since everything looked fine after the first day, i figured there was no problem. Even during the install, the outer lights were never too consistent in their level of brightness between tests. After the drivers side quit working I noticed that, with the headlights on, the outer bulb seemed to be too bright. Do you know if the sockets included in the full kit are aftermarket or GM parts? I may try replacing them.

Thanks to everybody for their comments and help. This is the first mod, if you can call it that, that I've tried to do and it's frustrating to have to deal with this
