School me in LT1 Lighting.

Alright, I'm starting to research LT1 Lighting Upgrades.

- I've put Silverstars in my previous LT1 Style Camaro.
- I like the look of the factory lights, so no hella conversion or whatever.

I'm thinking I want to try something a little brighter/whiter than silverstars.

Silverstars 9006 are:
55 W / 4000k right?

I'm thinking about running a 80W / 7000-7500k. Do I need to "upgrade my harness? Any links on how to / what to buy? I'm a electronics when it comes to cars. (I built my computer FWIW)

Will something like this show blue when the lights are off? I'd rather not have that (if its noticable) Black would be cool (almost like smoked)

Just curios, how were the silver stars in your other LT1 Camaro like? I am guessing that if you want brighter ones, they may not have been bright enough. (I am currently considering silver stars in my Z as well)

The ff75's look the closest to stock and actually look mean as hell. Not the round ones the semi square oval ones.
Yup, I know... I want to keep the stock housings, they look best IMO. I'm happy with silverstars but I was wondering if I could go a bit further before I spent my money.

They're more white. (Hence 4000k), and a little brighter I reckon. They worked fine I just figured I'd go a little brighter. There's nothing wrong with them.

Don't think you'll need to upgrade your harness. We're only talking about 6amps, for 80W bulbs. And I doubt they will look blue form any distance. Also doesn't seem like much money, why not try it.

Re: School me in LT1 Lighting.

Maybe I am just reading the post wrong, but don't they make a silverstar bulb that just replaces the stock front headlamp bulbs? I didn't think it required changing the whole headlamp case/lense.

Yes, they did make a Silverstar replacement "sealed beam" light for these cars. But that's not what we are talking about. We're talking about replacing the bulbs(only) with the later 9005 and 9006 type. Once modified, (the housings), there are hundreds of these types of bulbs to choose from.
