Sanding LT1 FRC's

So im getting the LT1 Corvette FRC's for my car and im filling in the "Corvette" logo with "QuikPlastik" then sanding and painting them. Ive never sanded and painted something like this before so i need help. I want to take the texture out of them so my paint is nice and smooth. What steps should i follow when sanding these? ie. do this or do that, etc. What type of sand paper should i use? What grit(s)? Any recommendations on paint that wont get damaged? I think im just going to use a rattle can if that will be okay. Then spray some clear from another rattle can. I assume i should use primer aswel. Any recommendations on that also?
