sanding the intake manifold
sanding the intake manifold
has anyone tried sanding down the intake manifold with fine grit sandpaper to get it to shine up? I have heard this works. What grit sandpaper would you suggest?
Thanks

I haven't played with the intake manifold, but this procedure worked for a set of aluminum Baer brake calipers:

I used a high grit sandpaper on my intake and then used never dull ( stuff you can buy @ wal-mart )
and it came out like this

I honestly cant remember , I want to say 100/120 but I dont know .
I would just choose a good fine grit sand paper
It doesnt take as much sanding as you would think .
I did " wet sand " it but I am not sure if it makes a difference

i took piece of 1500 grit emery (sp?) cloth and just quickly sanded the intake manifod and rails... and it started shining... basically use a rougher sandpaper to knock down any roughness then just jump up in grit till it comes out smooth and shiny and polish... no real trick or special process
