sagging headliner problem...suggestions
prob not because if it's sagging, then the foam pad the fabric its sticking to is seperating from itself. Good news is redoing the headliner is easy....especially if you just have a standard hard top....t-tops are a little different but easily do-able.
You can get all the headliner fabric you need from a fabric store for prob $30 and that should include your adhesive.
If you want some step by step help just drop me a pm....it's easy as long as you take it out when it isn't windy outside!! Mine snapped in half (t-top) but I was still able to fix and reupholster it just fine.
If you are real desperate, you can fix the headliner w/ some small pins or tac pins but it's just a band-aid.
hope that helps

I just bought a new headliner for my car. It should be delivered tomorrow. It was a pain to find one as GM has quit manufacturing new headliners for our cars.
You won't be able to fix your sagging headliner without taking it out and redoing the upholstery. If you just try to glue up what's already there, it will fall back down in a hurry. The reason a headliner sags is because the foam backing behind the fabric is starting to disintegrate. Gluing the fabric back to a crumbling backing isn't unlike applying tape to a dirt-covered surface. You'd essentially be gluing onto dirt, not the headliner shell, and it will ultimately come down again.
Tell me the headliner shell behind your fabric was falling to pieces. If the shell was good, you spent a lot more money than you had to. If your only problem was the fabric coming down, then you could have fixed that for ~120 bucks if you took it to an upholstery shop, or less than 50 bucks if you did it yourself.

All I can tell you is that the fabric was starting to fall down in the front. The way I look at it, I'll have a new headliner, plus one that I might be able to fix. It definitely would have been cheaper if I had bought one from Jason Cromer while GM was still manufacturing them. I hate that GM is beginning to discontinue parts for these cars, but I guess that's life.

Are these things a pain to take out and put in? I really don't know when I'll put the new headliner in. I just knew that I would eventually want one, and when I found out that GM quit making them, I figured if I could find one I better buy it.
I wouldn't mind some suggestions, the middle is sagging on mine and the front is flipping down. It wouldn't be as easy as just laying some fiberglass/bondo over the core and painting it for a different route, would it?
there is a link to a how to thread in this post

Oops. Just noticed I had this posted in the wrong thread. How does that happen?
My car is a hardtop, and I've read virtually nothing about the "how to's" involved with removing and installing a headliner. I always just assumed it was held in place by screws along the perimeter, but I'm sure there is more to it than that, such as dome light removal etc. I've spent so little time in my car over the last ten years, I'm not even sure whether the car has a dome light. I do have the factory service manuals, but any insight would be appreciated.
