I need to remove some silver paint smeared on my grille, will acetone damage the grille? if anyone has used it or paint thinner speak up.

Acetone should be fine on the plastic grille - it shouldn't "eat" it if that's what you are worried about. It should remove the paint very quickly then you would have the chance to rinse it off before it had a chance to damage it. But since it is so thin, it will mostly just evaporate right off.
