Retro Z/28-350 Badges
Retro Z/28-350 Badges
I have been toying with the idea of retro badges for sometime. I have considered de-badging, overlays, and retro and the retro I think is the most appealing to me. Being more visible and readable that the 4th Gen style. De-badging looks ok, but I dont think I ever heard my father or uncles talk about de-badging their hot-rods.
I am considering either the Z/28 69 style or the Z28 70+ style. Also I think it would be sweet to throw on some vintage 350 badges somewhere if fitting. I think those and maybe brushed aluminum rear "Camaro" insert would look nice. Anyone have opinions on what type to get and where to add the 350 badges? I know on the old F-bods they were on the fendors in front of the wheels. Pictures on a Red 4th Gen would be great! Thanks.

www.yearone.com for your retro badges, and check out Brett Franker's website for the brushed alum. inserts.
Re: Retro Z/28-350 Badges
Thanks, I know where to find them. I am looking more for opinions on which style to get and what you guys think about placement and overall looks. Kinda makes me wonder if people read my posts
Again any opinions on the retro badges on the car in my sig would be very welcome.
1. 1969 vs 1970.5 Z/28 badges (Which is Better/cleaner/more visible/sweetness?)
2. Displacement badges 350 in several different year styles (Too much? Sweet? Out of place? Where to put?)
Placement of either or both. Just fenders? Leave rear blank? Perhaps put Z/28's on the fenders and a 350 in the rear?

Re: Retro Z/28-350 Badges
i have also been toying with the idea of doing the 350 badges although my concept was a bit different: i was thinking about doing hockey stripes ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW ) since your car is red i would suggest either black or white just depending on your prefrence with the 350 where it was back in the day and the 69 emblems look cleaner in my opinion without a tacky large "z" and i would leave them in the same locations
just my .02
just my .02
Re: Retro Z/28-350 Badges
I had '69 Camaro 350's on above the stock Z28's on the sides of my Camaro for about a year. I was going to put them on the fender behind the headlight like they were on 1st Gens, but in my opinion, it didn't look right. If I were doing it again, I put 1st Gen Z28's on the sides in place of the stock emblems, then fill in the Camaro lettering in the rear and put a Z/28 in the middle.
Re: Retro Z/28-350 Badges
Im going to do '69 badges on the quarters and a '70 on the rear tail panel because i think it will fit better back there than a '69 would.
Im also going to do something ive never seen anything quite like, so i did a photo shop of my own car: shaved bowtie + front '69 badge

Re: Retro Z/28-350 Badges
Thanks fella's! Those are the kind of comments I am looking for. As far as the hockey stripes, I have seen it done on this car...http://www.davidyeatts.com/98_Z28.htm Pretty cool in my opinion, but Hockey stripes arent really my thing, at least not right now.
Badging wise I wish I had photoshop and I would just put them in a few spots and post the pics. Here are the combos I am considering. Z28 being either 69 or 70.5+ Versions.
1. Older Z/28's in place of new on fenders and rear.
2. Same as above minus the rear Z/28
3. Same as #1 with 350 on one side of the rear
4. Same as number 2 just the 350 in the rear.
5. #1,2 or 3 with 350 badges on the fenders somewhere
6. Any number with or without Silver/Brushed Aluminum/SS inserts.

I wish there was a technicality I could used to get around that..although I have seen people with plates in the front window, I think that might not work. Again good post.PS: Would anyone want to do some photoshop of emblems on my car for me? I dont have the program. Like one set of 69 vs 70+ Z/28's on the side of any bright red LT1. Perhaps some "350's" on the front fender section? The rear section is still being decided. Thanks.

I know how life saving they both are. The best part was the state highway patrolman pulled me over for just the front plate. Not a thing else. I was doing below the limit with belts on and all. He decided he was going to be an *** about it the whole time too. Two men in a red camaro on a summer day with the T-Tops off, how could he resist

Re: Retro Z/28-350 Badges
I was on www.fbodymotorsports.com the other day and they have some pretty good looking grills that have the vintage emblems built into them. You should take a look at it, they are pretty cool.
Re: Retro Z/28-350 Badges
Bersaglieri- Let me know if you find a good place to get the 69 Z emblems new. Year one is expensive as hell and this is my first chevy so i don't know of good cheap, resto places to get them at. I'm planning on trying to pic some up at a local swap meet this next weekend but if i can't i'm gonna have to order some.
Re: Retro Z/28-350 Badges
I just put the diamond cut grille in (from grille-tech.com) and attached the 69 style Z/28. Looks AWSOME. Also going to add the fender badges as soon as it warms up a little bit. I wouldnt mess with the 350 ahead of the whell well.

,thought about the 350 emblems, but took too much room on the fender.(looked too out of proportion)
