Which brand of paint is made for this type of job? Which one looks the best finished? Do I need a seperate clear coat? How long will it last. Also, if there is any special way that would produce the best finish. Should I seperate from car and paint accordingly, or can I do it on the car.
Now, what color to use. The caliper and the mounting brackets are seperate parts right. Do you think that I should paint them different colors. Mind you my Z is black with silver SS stripes with the stock silver 5 star shooters. My thoughts were to paint the brackets black and the calipers silver. What about other colors like blue, red, yellow or something else for the calipers? Let me know what you think.
Thanx
Joe

if you want the best possible stuff to use on your calipers drop me a line at newkoba@cfl.rr.com, it's a brush on kit that retail for $50. it'll last you a very long time unlike the spray garbage you buy from pep boys.
The garbage from pep boys has worked fine for me and is cheaper than 50 bucks
1 can of high heat duplicolor in whatever color you want (mine are black)
1 can of high heat duplicolor clear
BTW these are high heat engine enamels if they are good enough to spray on a engine thier fine for calipers
Hell brentZ used krylon on his calipers and they are fine...
BTW it's 5 bucks a can for the paint and about 20 for the brake decals if you get them so 40 bucks and you will have some badass decals too

The most important part of painting calipers IMO is the prep. Take your time and clean the hell out of them until you can wipe a white rag across them and nothing shows up.
If you decide to spray paint them with them still on the car, cover the entire car. I used about 15 - 20 huge trash bags taped together (cut the bottom off, then slit open one side, that gives you a big sheet of plastic). Definitely do this right after you thoroughly wash the car so as to avoid scratching the hell out of your paint.
It may sound excessive, but fine droplets of paint will become airborn and land just about anywhere. Better safe than sorry and all that..

I appreciate all the replies....
And I appreciate all of your opinions, that's why I'm postin'. What I think is cool is not exactly what you think is cool, so I'm asking what color do you think looks good on calipers with a 93Z, black with silver SS stripes. I was thinking about doing the same color in the engine bay and what ever.
Please tell me what you think. I have seen many pix and I need some originallity.
