Red face Replacing front blinker light, is this difficult?

I need to replace my front blinker light and I was looking in my shop manual. It says to lift the front end to get to the light. Is this completely necessary, or does it just make the job easier? Are these lights difficult to replace?

you don't have to lift the front, even though it will make your life easier. under the front bumper you'll see 2 covers on the sites. they are holding by 7 or 9 10mm bolts and their is 2 more 8mm bolts on the air dam on the side. remove all of this bolts and slide out the cover towards the side. be careful not to lay down undernees of it at the time because of all the $hit that will drop down from there. from here you can simply reach the socket you need and remove it by squeezing the sides and turning. change the bulb and do the rest backwards.

NO NO NO!!!!
you don't have to remove all the bolts!!!!
on each side there's a little flap that folds down that's held up by two 10MM bolts. all you have to do is take these 2 off and pull the flap down, then you can reach up to the turn signal bulb, pinch the clip, turn counterclockwise (since the bulb goes down into the turn signal- so it's counterclockwise from a top-view), and swap the bulb, then reach back thru the flap and put it back in. you do NOT have to take all the bolts out- i've done this MANY times.

Its all GMs fault, In 93-97 owners manuals they say to take the bottom skirt off, for the firebird. They failed to notice that on the 93-97 firebirds you can open the hood and put the head lights up, and reach right in to change the turn signal bulbs.

I know he drives a Z-28, the point is like you and catsnet said, theres an easier way. Just because the manual says one thing doesnt mean its the easiest and most efficient way to do it. I felt the question was answered quite suficiently and just wanted to add my own $0.02.

I gotcha. Sorry if I worded that a bit sharply. I see where you're coming from now and the point you were trying to make.
Later,
