replacing attenna

I bought this replacement attena just for the looks and I need to know how much of a pain in the butt it is going to be installing it so I have a few questions. This thing replaces the entire Attena, from the radio plug to the mast. (all the wiring)

1. How do you remove the stock attenna base, does it have a rocker arm on the base, can you just unscrew it from the outside or will I have to remove interior panels?

2. The instructions say that I can just tie the new cord to the old one and from the radio just pull the old out and the new will follow to complete the routing, this sounds great but what if the old wire is tied to other wires or mounted to the frame somewhere? Has anyone ever done this?

thanks
