Replace stock Steering wheel with MOMO- Is it legal?

Is it legal to remove OEM air-bag steering wheel with non-airbag aftermarket momo steering wheel in a 1994 Z28?

i don't know.
i have heard so many different stories on this subject though...
some say it's totally illegal.

the best i have heard is that it is only illegal if any party is paid to remove the airbag.

i.e. you can do it yourself, but you can't take it to a shop and have them do it.

if it is illegal to do so, i think some people need to keep their noses in their own business.

FYI i have removed both airbags in my VW and have a sparco wheel. works great, too

Yes it is technically illegal, as this is part of the NHTSA mandated safety equipment required for all cars, just like the tail lights, side door impact beams, etc. etc.
The confusion comes from the fact that in most states you can have them disabled. If for physical reasons you have to sit to close to the steering wheel or have young childeren in the pass, seat. This requires approval(and paper work) from your state DOT.
I think in most states you could probably do this without any one ever noticing. Good Luck.

Common law says that technically anything that comes on you're car is supposed to be on there, but i've heard that you can take if off but you have to tell the insurance that you did, or you get big big fines if you every get caught/crash
