Removing windshield Scratches

I just bought my '95 Z28 a couple months ago. I genious who had it before me put the wrong wipers on which I didn't realize until one flew off as I was driving. Anyway, there's a bunch of scuff marks and a few deaper scratches in my windshield that are really distracting when Im driving, mostly when it's sunny. I talked to the people at all 3 of the autoparts stores in town and none had anything to remove them. One recomended using fine steal wool which I haven't tried because I fear it scuffing more. Anyone know what I can do to fix my windshield or do I have to take it someplace and have it professionally buffed out?

i remember reading that Zaino makes something specifically for that purpose.

ask on the show n shine forum...

zaino webpage:
Z-12 CLEAR-VIEW GLASS POLISH

Finally, a glass cleaner and polish that really works. We have yet to find a stain that it did not remove. Formulated with modified cleaners and mild abrasives, that deep cleans and polishes all glass surfaces. Removes acid rain, water spots, road film, stubborn stains, annoying interior glass film and fine to medium scratches. This product will remove plasticizing (the hazy film that attaches to the inside of the windshield on all late model vehicles) in one application. Leaves glass crystal clear and sparkling. You will think the glass disappeared. Will not scratch or distort glass. Great for restoring old windshields. Can also be used to clean chrome and metal surfaces. For hand or machine use. Not for use on Coated Glass, painted or plastic surfaces.

hey man, I'm with ya about the scratches on the windshield being distracting, it down right making me mad sometimes...but anyway, you can try to find a professional to see if they can fix it. I been lookin myself and I've come across the National Windshield Repair Association. They seem like the best bet for me so far. Just search for them on google, there site has a listing of places that can repair windshield damage I believe.

I don't think there's much you can do. I have scratches all over my windows from an ice scraper. I tried all the tricks (such as toothpaste and jewelry cleaner) and all of the places I took it to woudn't repair scratches (for fear of distorting the glass). I ordered a glass scratch removal kit from www.eastwoodco.com and have had minimal results. My scratches aren't bad either.

The glass polisher will work from eastwood just don't let it get hot or it will warp the glass like I did
it won't work on really deep scratches though
