Removing the spacer from rear lowering springs

Has anyone removed the rubber spacer that cup the springs? I have DMS springs and have read about people removing this item to get a lower stance. I want to do this for the rear springs to settle it lower. Is the ride any rougher without the spacer?

DMS here! I removed the rear isolaters and used a heavy duty washer hose . it lowered the rear down another 1/2"

It hlped the stance just right.

BTW, does it matter what type of hose I use, or where did you get yours? I have some rubber hose similar to the heater hose found in our engine bay, maybe I could use that? Also, I take it your car's ride feels fine this way? Sorry for all the questions.
