I dont see why on earth it would even fit. I made a thread asking for input on how one could be made from scratch but nobody had anything.

i saw it done on a mustang (97?). It looked real good when it was off. But he used a trash bag to cover it up at night. Its been like that for several months now.

There are 2 companies I know of that make removable hardtops for the mustang. Their were special addition cobras back in 94-95 that came with them as well.

Ive seen that pic. I also researched the name. It was a Ttop car converted to a targa top. That's way easier than trying to make a removable top for a vert. Apples to oranges.

I believe this is what he ment. A targa top not a hard top for a vert.

I always like the targa top look too, the only thing that has held me back is that when you cut the "T" out of the t-top you lose a TON of structural rigidity due to Fbodys being a unibody frame, you would have to put a very strong multi point roll cage in (like the one in the picture above) along with boxed subframe connectors just so the chassis could handle the twisting force unless you had a v6 then you would prolly be fine

I believe thats proven to be untrue. All camaros are built on the same frame. If the Vert is fine why wouldnt a t-top car be without the middle piece? Doesnt even make sence to me to think that small piece could make any diff anyways.

Re: Removable "Corvette roof"?...

for most street cars you probably are right, however when i go to the track i RARELY see verts throwin down low numbers, also didnt some verts have a type of factory sub-frame connector? Im not trying to start a huge debate but i would like to ask this Whistler character his reasoning behind putting a cage like that in his targa Z

Yes convertibles had a factory sub frame connector. My moms 95 Z has them from the factory. I dont know if it was an option or standard
