Red faced gauges would be cool..
Re: Red faced gauges would be cool..
i've looked all over central florida junkyards for a 93-2002 formula/ TA, 96+ camaro dash no luck! One guy wanted like $250 for the one he did have, but I responded with some French language to that!

Critter - no its not hard to remove the face . But keep in mind , if you cant remove the needles in a way u can get them back in the exact same spot , you will have to have the cluster re-calibrated professionally and that can be as much as $100 to do .

Here's the response from Black Cat Customs.
Hi Brian,
Yes, we do have them for both the V8 and 3800 versions. All the usual
options are available as far as colors go. Price wise, we always do the
best we can, but those years for the Camaro, the gauge face is very
large, so there's much more material required, so it's hard to keep the
price really, and with all the options available, each set is made to
order, meaning more work and more cost. Having said that, we haven't
made any early 4th gen gauge faces for a while now, and we used to
charge $139 for it, including the white, yellow or silver face color
options, light blue, red, green or yellow lighting color options, a
standard logo option for that price. If a few people are interested, we
are willing, and should be able to do better. The only photos I have are
of the very first set we ever did, but if there is some interest, we'll
make up a new set and get some new photos for you. Please let me know if
you have more questions. Thanks!

They do still offer custom gauges -just not for Fbodies, evidentally.
Maybe email or call them -they may have one or five left?!?!

There might be a couple of more interested parties in there for your guys.
Re: Red faced gauges would be cool..
that all sounds good, but i wander if its possible to have red face gauges that turn not necessarily black but a dark color and the numbers light through red when the lights are on.. my dad has a maxima with a set like that and as far as i know thats what came in it. white face that turns black when its lit and the numbers are a white-blue color. hmm if i could get that ild definately be in!
Re: Red faced gauges would be cool..
Spoke with Alex today, super cool guy. He said he can make them for the '93-'96 Formula/TAs if I can get at least another 5 people in on it.

I bought a 93 z28 and wanted it to have custom gauges with pics of my wife on them.Shes a nude model for Genesis and some other magazines.I couldnt find anyone who would make them so I learned how to do it myself useing photoshop.Anyone can do it..............I'll add a step by step instruction on this forum in a couple weeks when I have time.....here are a few pics of what it looks like when your done....the pics of the woman are not my wife but just an example of what anyone with a computer can do...the ones of my wife are nude and I didnt think this forum would like it if I posted them.....

Re: Red faced gauges would be cool..
that is definetly pretty damn cool! You'll have to post a write up on how to do that! But what would you do about the material to put them in the actually gauge cluster? and I wouldn't mind nude pictures lol
Re: Red faced gauges would be cool..
It's very cool idea, but just as the same problem with the ones off Brent's site; you print them on regular paper and the light won't shine through -- doing this to the gauge cluster would be a bad thing at night.
Do you have any pics of the gauges (forum safe, or edited?) that shows whether the light shines through?

Re: Red faced gauges would be cool..
the light thing is the same problem I came across when I wanted to do this so I came up with my own solution.I made my design with photoshop then took it on disc to a shop that puts vinyl lettering on work vans. That kind that goes on a window.so the vans have lettering over the windows that you cant see through when looking in but you can see looking out. They printed it on the vinyl for me and I put it on my gauges as an overlay. It's tricky cuz the stuff sticks to the gauges as soon as it touches so you have to be real careful applying it.It looks perfect and proffesional.I then had my wife sign it and date it with the cars vin on it.When I go to sell it I'm hopeing it will add value to the car.
