Question for people that have gauge overlays! PLZ HELP!

I recently installed gauge overlays on my 93 v6. They came with a converter that plugs into a wire coming off the face. There are then two wires coming off the converter box (1 red and 1 black). It said to connect these to the headlight power supply. So I just connected them to the thick red wire and a black wire coming off the headlight switch assembly. My question is, Are these the correct wires to connect the converter to? I figured they should be the same color right (red w/ red, black w/ black)?! The reason I ask is because they don't come on when I turn the lights on. They only come on when I press the switch that comes off the converter. This is not very convenient and it worries me a little. Please help me with any advice you can. I am really concerned about this. Thanks, John.

Just connect the red wire from converter to the yellow wire on headlight switch, and black to black. That worked for me. Have you noticed your needles hanging on the face any?

Thanks for the reply. That really puts my mind at ease! No problems with the needles sticking...but I did notice the overlay doesn't quite line up with the warning lights underneath it...looks like I need to do some adjusting. Thanks a bunch for the tip! John.

Good luck. The only problem I had was I cracked the dash part of my car. I don't know where Im going to get a new one...it's big. Also just make sure you turn on the car before you bolt everything back in, just to check for allignment. John.

So what color is the wire you connected the gauges to? Did you do black to black and red to the p...meter wire? That's a great idea. Thanks, John.

ya which wire is for the p-meter?? im about to install my indiglo gauges as well adn would much prefer to be able to "dim" them because i have heard taht they are really bright on the green colors.

Also what all did you have to take apart? any hidden screws?
and the velcro, what parts are the velcro on?

Anyone get a seperate dimmer control from radio shack to control the gauges? this way you wouldnt have to dim everything to dim the glo gauges

The gauges I got from procarparts.com came with a dimming switch attached. There are 8 different brightness settings. I am just going to connect it to the yellow wire and use the switch it came with. I didn't even think that connecting it to the dimming switch would in turn dim everything. Good call! John.

P.S. Velcro is just attached to the big dash piece, the piece I broke! Just be careful when "popping" it up to free the large piece surrounding the gauges.
