Question for Brent. Or others With WW Body Kit and Lowered Car

Alright I got my car lowered a while back with BMR lowering springs. Just Bought some Chrome ZR1 Replicas, and now of course comes the body kit. The BMR springs are about a 1.5" drop. I got offered a Wings West body kit and I saw on your site that you have about 2 inchs of clearance with the Air Dam. My problem now is that when I bottom out its usually my cat converter cause it hangs a little low since it was replaced. Will my Side Skirts be hitting too, or are they usually alright when you bottom. Im not to worried about the air dam cause its plastic and bends even though it sounds weird. If that turns out to be a problem Ill trade the front over to an F1 front piece and go back to the stock air dam but Im mainly just worried about cracking my side skirts and smashing the front. You said the WW front had 5 inch clearance?
Thanks

Just curious...why are you "bottoming out" at all... I would HIGHLY recommend that you fix that problem before adding a bodykit.

Also, that WW plastic airdam scraping, sounds ALOT more annoying than you might imagine... it is NOTHING like the stock one... your sideskirts will be fine though..

Just FYI

Well the only thing that is bottoming out now (I consider bottoming out the car scraping not the shocks bottoming) is my cat which hangs a little low. I was just worried about the side skirts getting banged up too. And if the WW air dam does bug me Ill just go back to the factory air dam and an F1 Front. I just cant stand the rest of the F1 Kit.

I'll give you an example of how low the body kit sits. I had a stock suspension 1994 Z28 with salad shooters and a 45 series profile tire. When it came to extreme breaking, the new WW air dam would scrape. If I was driving down the road and had to slam on my breaks b/c little old lady walked out infront of me, it would make this tremendously annoying sound. I'm not sure how I didn't break it a few times either. The side skirts and rear skirt are not going to scrape that much. The front will scrape if you have the car already lowered 1.5" and stock tires. I recommend fixing your car a little before you put the front fascia on or else bye bye fascia

What do you mean by fixing the car? Nothin is wrong with the suspension. Just a low sitting cat which is only about an inch lower than normal. And your saying that just by slamming the brakes the front end goes down far enough to get the Fascia to hit?

No, the fascia shouldnt hit, its the plastic air dam thats underneath is what hits. The side skirts will be fine though, unless you hit a curb.

Alright sounds good to me. The air dam wont bother me to much. Its worth it for the looks of the Wtype kit. I like the bolder front, stock it is to pointed for me. My biggest problem will probably be pullin into parking spaces that have a curb there. Oh well maybe Ill start backing in?
Thanks for the replies guys.

pu12en12g what springs are you running. Eibach sportlines? And those pictures on page 2 show really well how your air dam and kit stands. So I have about a little less than an inch higher than you if those are sportlines. And if its the pro line Im about even with you. What about speed bumps, you guys run into a lot of trouble? And Pu12en12g what size tires are those. Ill be running a 255/50/16.

I've got about 4.5" of clearance right now to the bottom side of the front ground effect piece. I have under 2"... closer to 1" of clearance for the air dam.

I've never had my anything but the bottom of the front ground effect piece or the air dam bottom out and the air dam hits all the time!

Keep in mind though that when I drive the 94Z I realize a head of time that about 75% of the places in town I just can't go. I also can't go over any speed bumps... period. It sucks but that's the price you pay for having a lowered car and low riding ground effects

That might Be just a little to much for me then I guess. Can you suggest a kit that doesnt hang as low on the sides. Ill find an F1 front piece cause I like the looks of that and it keeps the stock air dam which I never hit. The Back of the Wtype kit is to nice to pass up.

I would recommend the stock air dam with the w-type front fascia. Then if you run into your engine running a little hotter, throw a manual fan switch in. That way you can look good and still be "cool" enough around town

I am running Ground Control Adjustable Coilovers, currently about a 3 inch drop in the front. My wings west front and sideskirts are molded on. I can take the gentle speed HUMPS... but I do NOT go over speed bumps. I will block traffic and turn around if i have to... but no speed bumps for me. I am running 40 series tires on 18 inch rims. Basically, when you combine the bodykit + over a 1 inch drop, you will have to be VERY VERY CAUTIOUS.. and you WILL scrape on things like driveways and sharper angles.. (it will USUALLY just be the airdam scraping)

I just can't describe how annoying that airdam scraping sounds.. you will jus have to find out I guess
