Question on AutoMeter Gauge A-Pillar

For those using one of Autometer's 1997-2002 Gauge A Pillars p/n 12212 (two gauge T-top model), Summit p/n ATM-12212, can you answer the following questions:

1. Does it replace the factory plastic A pillar or does it get mounted to the factory plastic?

2. Does it come already painted to match the interior, dark gray?

3. Is it a good quality piece?

Thanks,
Brent M.

Or....

1. It is a complete replacement pillar

2. It is essentially dull black plastic, and will not match without painting

3. It's good.

TByrne...

Don't know part # but bought mine from TByrne. Attaches to the outside of pillar and the black color matches good.

Pic not so good...

I just had this stuff installed 2 days ago
The 12212 comes in a black color and goes over the existing A-Piller. It will have to be screwed in 2 places at the top to hold it down though. I'm running a Air/Fuel gauge (X-Mas present) and a water temp.. Both Carbon Fiber series and they work great. My olny concer is at the bottom gauge pod you have about 3 inches from the top of your hand to the bottom of the gauge so you may have to adjust your hadns when driving.
I'd take some pics for you, but the day the work was done some %^*%^% &^&*%^&*^% hit the car and shes in the body shop now.

This is the AutoMeter 2-gauge pod. It has been epoxied to the stock pillar molding, filled with bondo to smooth the sides into the pillar, and the ends filled and molded to make a closed seam. Then it was painted with "Graphite" spray-can vinyl paint from The Eastwood Company. The color match is even better than it appears in the photo. They sell a couple other shades of gray.
