Problems with their TA foglights melting?

I had a foglight go out on me and tonight I finally decided to change it, when I looked at both housings, the bulbs had melted onto the housing, which had melted a little itself. Is this a common problem, or is something wrong?

Also, since my foglights are now fried, I am thinking about getting some aftermarket fogs of the same size, possibly with the "angel eye" look in hyperwhite. Would I have any problems using the stock wiring for this, I don't want the wires melting on me also.

what watt is the bulb, if there not stock and you have brighter ones in its place the stock housing will melt

I've never heard of them melting before. Thats kind of weird. Id check the wattage of the bulb as chasmanz28 said. I don't know what else would have caused the housing to melt

Well, I am going to go with some aftermarket fogs now, probably some Hyperwhite one's the same size, but I believe that they are 55W. Will this be a problem for the stock wiring, if I use that to run the lights?

One of my fogs took a monster rock and ruined that one and the other one was melting a little from a stock 18 i think watt bulb, kinda crappy huh? I replaced them with some 55w fogs from auto zone or wherever and i used the stock wireing, no problems for me as of yet but i don't necesarily use my fogs all that much. hope this helps

Ok, thanks! That's what I wanted to know. Pep Boys has a set of Hyper White fogs the same size as the factory lights with the "angel eye" feature, I will probably get those, see how they look.

yeah as long as you buy a new set of fog lights you wont have a problem, just changing the bulb on the stock lights is when you run into problems

melting lites

This is c ommon when you don't use the OEM bulb # which is 20 couple watts, and use an 885 I think, which is 37.5 watts. I just changed mine to the hotter ones about a month ago, and when I had it on the lift yesterday, I noticed mine are both melted. Now the bulbs are stuck in too. Does anyone aftermarket make a lite that you can use the stock mounting brackets with ??

I doubt that an aftermarket fog light will work with the factory mounting brackets without some fabbing. I may end up making a custom bracket, I'll just have to see when I do this.
